County Route J6 is a 22.27-mile multi-county highway located Stanislaus County and San Joaquin County. Said County Route begins at California State Route 108 in Stanislaus County along McHenry Avenue. From California State Route 108 the highway continues into Escalon in San Joaquin County where it transitions to Escalon-Bellota Road. The remaining balance of the County Route is carried by Escalon-Bellota Road to a terminus at California State Route 26.
County Route J6 was commissioned in 1960 along with numerous other County Sign Routes in San Joaquin County. The largely direct north/south corridor is mostly known for the strange County Route 6-7 shields which appear on Escalon-Bellota Road from California State Route 120 to Mariposa Road.

Modern County Route J6 is comprised of 22.27 miles of McHenry Road and Escalon-Bellota Road. The corridor originates at California State Route 108 in Stanislaus County but quickly enters San Joaquin County headed northbound. County Route J6 passes through Escalon where it intersects California State Route 120 and County Route J7 at Yosemite Avenue. County Routes J6 and J7 multiplex on Escalon-Bellota Road for approximately two miles north where the latter splits away onto Mariposa Road towards Stockton. County Route J6 continues north on Escalon-Bellota Road to a terminus at California State Route 26.
County Route J6 was commissioned during 1960 along with numerous other Sign County Routes in San Joaquin County. The highway can be seen mapped below as it appears on cahighways.org.
The northbound beginning of County Route J6 is in Stanislaus County near Modesto as California State Route 108 transitions from McHenry Avenue onto Patterson Avenue. This intersection has not contained a J6 shield in over a decade. McHenry Road is the fastest path of travel between Modesto and Escalon.
County Route J6 upon crossing the Stanislaus River enters San Joaquin County and enters the city of Escalon. Upon crossing the railroad tracks on McHenry Avenue, the highway intersects California State Route 120 and County Route J7. None of the three highways are signed at the junction.
County Routes J6 and J7 begin a multiplex on Escalon-Bellota Road north of California State Route 120. Some of the highway signs oddly display both County Routes on one shield as "J6-7."
County Routes J6 and J7 intersect County Route J9 at Jack Tone Road.
The multiplex of County Routes J6 and J7 ceases approximately two miles north of Escalon. County Route J7 splits away towards Stockton via Mariposa Road.
County Route J6 crosses the 1948-era Littlejohns Creek Bridge and intersects California State Route 4 in Farmington.
County Route J6 continues north of Farmington and terminates at California State Route 26.
