WVDOH awards two more Corridor H projects

WVDOH has recently awarded two projects for the construction of Corridor H in Grant County. The first project awarded was to Kokosing Construction Co. The $10.9 million project will pave 3.3 miles of Corridor H.

Also, Mashuda Corp. won a bid to grade and drain another 2.09 miles of the eventual four lane highway. The project is worth $18.6 million.

Mormon Emigrant Trail (Emergency US Route 50 Alternate)

Mormon Emigrant Trail is an approximately 24.5-mile portion of the original routing of the Carson Pass Highway in Eldorado National Forest. Mormon Emigrant Trail begins at California State Route 88 near Alder Hill and extends westward to Eldorado County Route J16 at Sly Park Road. Carson Pass was a known crossing of the Sierra Nevada by the Washoe and was surveyed in an 1844 expedition led by John C. Fremont. The Carson Pass Highway was plotted as a wagon road by the Mormon Battalion in 1848 and was once the primary crossing of the Sierra Nevada. By the 1880s the Carson Pass Highway had several spurs with the primary traffic corridor being rerouted to Jackson. The original routing towards Placerville would come to be known as Morman Emigrant Trail and became part of Eldorado National Forest in 1910. Nostalgia fast food with style - Returning to Rax

Nostalgia. It sells. It evokes, and more accurately, warps memories of days gone by. Things were better, simpler, and we eat it up. Nostalgia can make you drive three hours and over a hundred miles out of your way just to reconnect with a dying fast-food restaurant you last enjoyed in the early to mid-90s. US 15/501 Rerouted From Downtown Pittsboro

Pittsboro, like the rest of Chatham County, is growing. As a result, heavier truck traffic along US 15/501 through Downtown Pittsboro has led local leadership to ask NCDOT to move US 15/501 as the North/South route through downtown. Instead, US 15/501 will be routed along NC 87 North and west of Downtown Pittsboro to the US 64 Bypass. At the Bypass, 15/501 will head briefly east on US 64 to pick up 15/501's regular route North towards Chapel Hill and Durham. But this is just temporary. Just east of Downtown Pittsboro, the Chatham Parkway is being completed. When that road is finished, US 15/501 will move to the new road and serve as an eastern bypass for North/South traffic around Pittsboro. NC 902 has been truncated slightly to end at NC 87. There is no change to Business US 64, as that will continue to travel through Downtown Pittsboro along West and East Streets. NCDOT has now signed the changes around Pittsboro.
