Showing posts with the label sign foul

Is this the worst road sign you've ever seen?

This may be one of the worst "SIGN FOUL!", I have ever seen.  This is along US 64 East at Interstate 95 in Rocky Mount.  I apologize as I took this with my cell phone while driving into sunlight, but I didn't want to not capture this image!

Sign Find or A Major Sign Foul?

While touring the construction progress of the Triangle Expressway with Bob Malme today, we came across this well - NC 540 detour shield. Not sure where to begin with this: a rare orange NC shield? the hand drawn diamond? the lack of an official detour posting?  The reason for the orange shield is a detour for Davis Drive and Kit Creek Road to NC 540.  Currently, the interchange with 540 and Davis/Kit Creek is closed for construction of the Triangle Expressway. And here we thought the possibility of the Toll NC 540 shields being purple was out there.

Sign Fouls! - Volume 1

So this may or may not be a regular feature, but as I get photos I will certainly add them to the blog.  So the maiden post of sign fouls come from Pete Zapadka. The first is an obvious one - incorrect WV 19 shields in Morgantown, WV.  These should be US 19 shields. The next sign foul from Pete is more subtle.  It is located on I-79 North in Pennsylvania as you approach Exit 19.  At the two mile guide sign, there is an error in the placement of the word 'TO'.  It should be located over the US 19 shield instead of the PA 221.  The offramp from I-79 North intersects with PA 221.  One mile later, the one mile advance guide sign is correct. If you have some sign fouls and you want to share, you know what to do.

I-74 in Charlotte?

Chris Curley sent me a sign goof photo from the Brookshire Freeway in Charlotte. Thought I'd post it for everyone in the blog to see. Apparently they are updating the exit signs and one of the signs for the Independence Blvd exit instead of having a US 74 shield, looks like this: Now there are some people who would like to see an interstate from Charlotte to Wilmington, but right now the I-74 number is taken and is already on freeways more than 50 miles to the east. Bets on how long it will take NCDOT to fix this?
