During my Midwestern trip in June, I kept seeing signs for a few historic roads and trails as I was traversing around Indiana. Looking back, I wish that I had budgeted more time to explore these roads less traveled, but there's no reason why I couldn't return at some point. I saw these particular signs on Indiana SR 25 in Fulton.

Historic Michigan Road, which was a mostly north-south road across Indiana stretching from Michigan City on Lake Michigan to Madison on the Ohio River, by way of places like South Bend, Logansport, Indianapolis and Greensburg. |

The curiously named Potawatomi Trail of Death, which went from north central Indiana to eastern Kansas. This is from the same type of forced removal that occurred on the more famous Trail of Tears, just in a different part of the country. |
