We have a new gateway page here at Gribblenation - Travel New England.  This hopefully will allow for some easier navigation of our New England Features.  It's a simple listing for now, but it's a start and hopefully we will incorporate more gateway's for specific themes in the future. Although the towns south of the Notch have been more aggressive in attracting visitors, Franconia is a small and charming town and is the home of numerous bed & breakfasts.   Here in Franconia, you can find The Frost Place , named after the famous American Poet Robert Frost, who returned to the area at age 40 in 1915.  Frost Place serves as a museum and educational center for poetry. Possibly one of the most scenic stretch of Interstate highway along the East Coast, The Franconia Notch Parkway -- which carries Interstate 93 -- is one of the last stretches of two lane Interstate in the country. After over two decades of controversy, it was decided that the route would best remain a two lane parkway through Franconia Notch State Park . The highway itself is extremely scenic as it passes the former site of the 'Old Man in The Mountain', the unique granite formation that served as the symbol of New Hampshire for decades.  Just north of Exit 33 the Parkway begins. This June I took a trip out to Yosemite National Park upon receiving my COVID-19 Day Use Reservation.  My destination in Yosemite National Park was out in Hetch Hetchy Valley.  I sought to hike to the Wapama Fall Bridge which took me through some of the path of the former Hetch Hetchy Valley Railroad and abandoned Lake Eleanor Road. Part 1; Hetch Hetchy Valley, the Hetch Hetchy Railroad, and reservoir roads Hetch Hetchy is glacially carved valley similar to Yosemite Valley which is located on the Tuolumne River of Tuolumne County.  Hetch Hetchy Valley presently is impounded by the O'Shaughnessy Dam which was completed during 1923 as part of a project to deliver water and hydroelectric power to the City of San Francisco.  Before being impounded Hetch Hetchy Valley had an average depth of approximately 1,800 feet with a maximum depth of approximately 3,000 feet.  Hetch Hetchy Valley is approximately three miles long and as much as a half mile wide.  H...
