Thursday Jersday: Beesleys Point Bridge

Here's a feature that I plan on doing every Thursday for the next few months. I'll be posting a link to a New Jersey collection of photos I've taken and posted onto Flickr, for your enjoyment. The first week's installment will take us to the controversial Beesleys Point Bridge, which crosses over the Great Egg Harbor in South Jersey. Enjoy! Doug Kerr's Flickr Updates (December 2011)

I was able to get through all of my New England photos from the past 6 months or so, spending the last few weeks uploading what I have for Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Vermont. Here's the links to those collections for your enjoyment. New Jersey Flickr Update

Just wanted to let anyone who's interested know that I've added scores of New Jersey photos to my Flickr account from a recent trip I made around the Garden State. There's some pictures from the recent Northern New Jersey road meet, a jaunt around South Jersey and more! Abandoned roads, cool old shields, even older bridges and even AAA signage adorn the photo collection. Check it out at... http://www.flickr.com/photos/dougtone/collections/72157622664080587/ Next on the agenda, some photos from Central New York State, plus wherever the open road takes me this weekend.

Yellow NY 80 Shields

I saw a number of yellow NY 80 shields yesterday in Fort Plain and Nelliston, on NY 5, NY 80 and local streets (possibly on NY 5S as well, but I didn't see any). While I have reason to believe that it may be a supplemental way of showing there is a weight limit on the NY 80 bridge over the Erie Canal and Mohawk River connecting Fort Plain with Nelliston, I am pretty sure this is not MUTCD compliant. See a yellow NY 80 shield in question...

Lots and Lots of New York Road Photos

I am happy to announce my completion of uploading my New York State road photo collection onto Flickr (which is a lie, since I am always taking new photos and uploading them). But here's over 100,000 of those photos, now easily available on my Flickr page. Enjoy! http://www.flickr.com/photos/dougtone/collections/72157623626537541/ Also, if you want to check out my complete collection of photos, including road photos from various parts of the United States and Canada, go to http://www.flickr.com/photos/dougtone/ .

Irish Signs in the Catskills

In July 2008, I took a short road trip that led me through the Catskill mountain town of East Durham, which is located in Greene County, New York. The Catskills are nicknamed the Jewish Alps, and while that is certainly true in Sullivan County, East Durham has a decidedly Irish flavor to it. As I was driving around on some of the local county routes (CR 20B and CR 27), I spotted some signs from the old country. See all the photos at... http://www.flickr.com/photos/dougtone/4348459219/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/dougtone/4348459555/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/dougtone/4348419993/ As I was uploading photos to Flickr for my project where I am uploading my numerous road related photos , I remembered that I wanted to mention these photos, and today I have.

More Arizona Photos

Here's the rest of the Arizona photos on my Flickr gallery. This time, it's scenery photos from around Phoenix and Sedona, plus photos from that Coyotes-Islanders hockey game I attended. http://www.flickr.com/photos/dougtone/collections/72157623194813862/

2010 Flickr Sign Scavenger Hunts

For those of you that use Flickr to host your photographs, and are interested, the 2010 Flickr scavenger hunts for signs is now in full swing, awarding points for different signs found. The scavenger hunts are currently being hosted for the following states and regions up and down the East Coast. New England - http://www.flickr.com/groups/newenglandsigns/ New York - http://www.flickr.com/groups/nysigns/ Pennsylvania - http://www.flickr.com/groups/paroadsigns/ North Carolina - http://www.flickr.com/groups/nchighwaysigns/ It is also a possibility that Virginia may have a sign scavenger hunt as well. http://www.flickr.com/groups/vahwysigns/

Road Photos on Flickr

Some of you may have noticed that I have been uploading a large number of road photos onto my Flickr account at http://www.flickr.com/photos/dougtone/ recently. I've decided to do this because I want to get all my photos online, and I find Flickr to be more manageable for this this project than the photo gallery applications offers with the Gribblenation web hosting package. I do plan greater interoperability between Flickr and my Gribblenation pages in the future, but until then, enjoy these photos that I've recently added...
